Are they both e-start? Is the 540 fan-cooled?
When you say "off-trail", are you talking a foot or two of packed snow, or several feet of powder? Because IMO neither one of those is going to have the engine/track speed to make pow riding fun at all.
Don't know much about the trail/utility sleds (i'm a mountain rider), but I wouldn't worry about electronic reverse. There's enough charge in the capacitor and the ECU takes care of firing the ignition to spin the crank in the reverse direction. Polaris/Cat/Doo has had electronic reverse for years now, it's a fairly proven system.
If you're not a great wrench and still take it to a dealer/shop to get it worked on, dealer services and parts networks would be a big factor in my decision. Also, if you're willing to learn more about wrenching, get something your buddies have tools for and know.
Rotax engines are solid motors. Is that Tundra an ETEC?
Yamahas are great for trail riding with their long maintenance intervals and 4-stroke motors. Probably get a bit more low-end grunt out of those than a 2t.
If powder's your thing, get a sled built for it.
Pic related, my ride.
