>>598411To be fair on 'em i didn't stay long and it was after 4 nights cruising the highlands...
We had a bad first impression though, and didn't stick round to change it. We got to stornoway and saw our first scally kids of the whole trip, drove over barren featureless moorland and saw only pebble dashed council looking houses (they looked like council houses here on merseyside) and found nowhere good to car-sleep, so took what we could get and booked a ferry home the next day. While waiting for the ferry we drove about a bit, stopped in a dead pub for lunch where the wife and daughter of the boss-man had that 'daddy kisses with his fists please don't make him angry' look and the only two fellas there were talking about how they were going down to the docks later to see if there was any work going that day. Went to a museum where pic related was about as interesting as it got. Saw the stones and had a nice coffee which was a good thing. Some nice scenery but compared to the highlands we'd just come from it was pretty unexciting. Everybody looked depressed like in a northern mining town after the pits have shut down.
We gtfo'd and the highlands with their awesome views everywhere greeted us, and we camped on a beautiful shoreline 2 min walk from a tea room for breakfast (fuck yeah).
I've since heard it gets better than that though.
