Hey /out/, visiting /k/ommando here. I've decided that I need to start going innawoods more in the new year, since I had the realization the other day that I hadn't been properly hiking in almost five years (since my scouting days). I'm not much of a gear queer, but the stuff I used then definitely isn't up to snuff now, so I've scrounged up the following:
>one large LC-2 ALICE pack with frame
>one frameless medium LC-1 ALICE pack
>two one-quart and two two-quart surplus canteens
>two surplus mess kits
>Ten Essentials (too lazy to list all of them; I know what they are and have them).
>cheapass Coleman branded sleeping bag
>cheapass tent
>tarp and 10' of hemp rope
>daily worn and broken in Timberland hiking boots
Is this alright for getting back into easy, fifteen to twenty mile weekend hikes? Is there anything I should replace, or ditch entirely? I plan to pack it somewhat like pic related. Looking into it, I'm lucky enough to have a lot of good hiking spots pretty much all at most an hour and a half from me in any direction.
