Try (Pic related) In the field, or solar powered jukebox by Gordon Hampton, the latter being better for technique the former more inspirational. Both are pretty shallow though, it seems that if you want detailed recording techniques then you’ll have to dig pretty deep, I’ve not found any really.
Best way is go out and record, fuck stuff up and learn from you’re mistakes and what sounds good while learning the basics of your equipment, mic direction spread etc.
