So my current drilling is a double 12-gauge with Full and Extra-Full chokes, 2 1/2" chambers, and the rifle barrel is 8x58r Sauer. It's incredibly accurate, but the iron sights are ridiculously tiny and there's no way to mount a scope on it.
I just found a Krieghoff drilling for less than half what I spent on my Sauer and Sohn. 8x57r Mauser (no idea if it's the .318" bullet or .323" bullet; probably the former, in which case I already have ammo) and double 16-gauge, full and intermediate choke, 2 1/2" chambers, and it's dovetailed for mounting a scope. The reason it's so cheap is that the wood is badly in need of refinishing and the checkering is worn, and almost all of the bluing is worn off, but the bores are all in good shape.
I think I'm gonna save up and get it. The Krieghoff will be a good deer rifle that incidentally will let me bag a turkey if one shows up, while the Sauer & Sohn will be a good stalking rifle/fouling piece primarily intended for shooting turkey/pheasant while also being suitable for dealing with any feral pigs I run into.
