>>2225946I quite enjoyed the book, Jon Krakauer has a very expressive writing style. He clearly empathises with McCandless and reading the book I couldn't help but do so too. Yes, he got in way over his head and basically died for no reason. But he was doing what he had long since dreamed of. I don't really think the book glamorizes what he did, it even mentions a few other people who died tragically attempting to survive off the land in alaska. So I guess I think it's kinda based.
