It was good cushioning while I got used to the sweet spot on a shorter blade. Also have way more confidence in the wet than bare plastic.
Prefer it to my old batting tape, but haven't tried a wide variety. Feels weird compared to a regular tsuba wrap, but I like the added center ridge.
When handles go, I'll probably convert both to leather on wood. But until then, this is a fine solution. Invent a pattern that fits your hand well, and give it a shot.
