I've found this is all I really need while /out/. I carry a fenix cl20r too which gives off comfy diffused lantern light with a warmer color, both have red led modes which I find essential.
Preserving your night vision > blinding yourself by shining your light at undergrowth directly in front of you.
The one downside I have with headlamps is when it's very cold your breath will fog up in front of your lamp and make it impossible to see shit.
Though I've found the work around for that is just strapping this to one of your backpack straps as if it's a right angle design flashlight
