>>1386553, you don't need to know fuckall about the forest, just get your basic courses certified and you'll learn as you go. wildfire guys are the grunts of the forest, you don't need to have a phd in forest management to swing a hand tool at dirt or run a chainsaw for 16 hours. that being said the more relevant education you have in the area the more hireable you are.
