I'd get an arcteryx hardshell but really I have very little use for a hardshell. Unless it's in the 30s and raining I'm perfectly happy with a softshell. Below freezing temperatures I just don't need such a heavy shell. Steve House climbed a new route on Nanga Parbat in a Hoodini for fucks sake. Windshirts and uninsulated softshells outperform hardshells in most circumstances. I sold mine and got pic related with an OR Interstellar that will come out of the closet strictly on 60mph+ wind days.
I'll make an exception for people who climb in the Cascades in the winter. That snow is unreal.
