Ticks suck. Pic related is the best way to remove them. If you burn them off they vomit into your wound which is exactly what you don't want.

There are a few things you can do to avoid ticks though. DEET on your exposed skin/clothes and you can treat your clothes, shoes and gear with Permethrin which lasts quite a while.

You can do this. Duct tape isn't really necessary though.
