>>1732929They use it because it’s softer, they actually aren’t cutting any corners, same reason esee uses 1095, steel queers see 1075 and get worried but in reality a knife edge is going to get deformed no matter what you try to to to stop it so you had better be able to fix it. A super steel machete would be useless because anything will chip on a rock and then it’ll take you two years to get that chip out I can’t touch my 1075 and actually reform most of it because it’s soft rather than have to remove all the access like you would have to with super steel. Super steel is for tactical/technical applications and for hobbiests to flex their sharpening skills, not hard use
