>>784522>incoming Pepsi life storyNah, a bunch of the locations are union but we aren't. The location in Miami is union and the union reps tried really hard to get us to unionize in past years. We actually have "No Tresspassing" signs inside our gated parking lot now because the union people used to lurk there in the afternoons when everybody was getting off.
I honestly wouldn't even want it. Pepsi is a decent company to work for, they match $0.50 per dollar on the 401k (would be better if dollar for dollar), health insurance and all benefits on day one, pay is competitive, if not better than similar jobs in the area. And both my immediate bosses are cool so I have never run into an issue where I felt like I had to go above their heads.
There is all the bullshit you get with any big company like games when it comes to promotions and a million bosses above my head, but I'm actually at the plant maybe 30min a day and just do my own thing the other 8hrs or 9hrs.
It's a hard job though, only reason I'm still there is because I know my route and customers and can knock out an 11hr day in 9hrs. Our turnover rate is crazy with drivers since they don't expect what is coming. But when you get your CDL, you can either work hard at a job like that or go cross-country and be home a weekend a month for $35k/yr. Fuck that. I would do it for a few years if I were making $100k/yr, but I'm straight working my 45hrs a week, $50k (plus no state income tax), and getting to sleep in a real bed with a big TV next to it.
