Oh hey look it's another zone 7/a garden update.
4/6 peppers that were still sitting out in pots are now in the garden. These fuckers are hard as nails. They've spent weeks in pots way too small for them, were completely overrun by aphids for about 4 weeks to the point that when new flowers popped up you couldn't even see them through the opaque aphid layer, and they're still chugging along. Aphids are mostly if not all gone now and there was room in the garden.
Pulled up a bunch of carrots and beets. Looks like about half the squares of them got pretty shaded out by the broccoli. I think I just didn't read the SFG book carefully enough and thought it was directing me to never have two like plants next to each other. Now I'll know for future reference to have them tallest to shortest back to front so this doesn't happen again.
Also got the first sungold tomato. Ripped all the peas out. Broccoli is also just about done. Got some pretty meager heads this year so I won't be growing Green Goliath again. Plants got huge but heads ended up looking like the "baby broccoli" you see at grocery stores - very loose and maybe only 4 or 5 inches across. Beans are coming up and I need to plant more. Syrian cucumber I got from an employee of mine is in where the peas were. Took the risk of planting it without hardening it off and it looked almost completely dead the first two days but it's started picking itself up off the ground and getting some vibrancy back into it.
