Again, a toebox with too much wiggle room is causing blisters and most shoes can't be as flexible and soft as minimalist shoes (steel caps eing the most ovious example for security on the job). Those shoes have to fit snuggly to your foot, leading to it becoming more compact over time.
The fact that your body adapts isn't a bad thing and shoes are absolutely an evolutionary benefit, especially to northern europeans. There's a reason why we always wore them.
