Silage update!
147 days later, I've finally opened up one of the trash cans of silage. This can's silage seems to be perfect. There isn't any signs of fungus and the odor is amazingly spicy. It actually smells like a food product. I don't expect the older chickens to eat it, for the most part, but I'm hoping the ducks will eat it when the chickens stop running them off. I mixed in some normal feed, with the silage, and hope they get hungry enough to try and like the silage. Otherwise, I may need to wait until the next batch of ducklings, chicks, or kits are here before training them to eat silage from the beginning. Who knows, maybe I'll just get a goat while I'm at it.
I'm pretty sure at least 2 of the other trash cans of silage went bad soon after packing them up. Time will tell.
