>>1465785You can use a modified rat trap. You can modify one by lifting up the springs where they press against the board. This will increase the pressure. Be warned, only lift it up no more than a pencil thickness and make sure the method the springs and hardware are attached isn't weak. Many traps just use some bent wire as a staple and it often pulls loose. If you need to, just remove the old hinge wire and push a longer one into the board and bend it on the under side so it never pulls out. Do one side at a time. For the wire that whacks the rat, you'll need to put a small ridge just behind where it strikes the board. A piece of bamboo skewer is perfect for this. When the trap is sprung the thick wire that whacks the rat won't hit the bamboo skewer, because the skewer is offset just behind it a bit. Some people put shields over the traps to prevent an animal from entering at the wrong angle (pics). These modifications are really simple.
