If you are up to hiking atleast a mile in the woods everytime and carrying your supplies and whatever you kill out, it can be successful. Hunting private land takes a lot of skill and you will have to put in lots of hard work. You could go the option of getting on a deer lease for around 1000$, and have your own designated spots and set it up how you like. Also hogs are running wild in east texas so you could hunt those all year round. I hunt on a deer lease because I make good money and I enjoy having my own designated spots with rules set in place. I can hunt hogs all year long with my kids and we have a creek to swim in. I make good money so a few grand a year is nothing to me for some time in the woods with my family.
