It's heavy, and big. Compared to my 525, it's actually got a little less power. I'd put it more in the "adventure" category than "woods/trails". Know more guys who've been RTW on them than I ever see innawoods.
The 685 kit on them smooths out the engine, improves reliability (with the doohickey, subframe bolt mod, and a few other upgrades), and gives you a little more power.
Did I mention they're heavy? If you're just starting out riding, especially off-road, you might want something smaller/lighter that's easier to pick up.
Comparing the power and handling of a KTM 950 to a KLR 650, I'd say the 950's a better "woods/trail" bike than the KLR is.
