It doesn't get below freezing too often here so we don't need that much insulation but it does get fairly wet. I like leather but I don't know if its appropriate for this type of use. I don't know that much about boots.
Also learn from my fuckups, do not try to get across a coastal floodplain in the winter while wearing your old light boots made to be venting air in the desert.
