Torn up between getting a cheap 13ft aluminium punt with a motor or a decent fishing kayak/canoe with muh tax refund
Boat pros:
>More room
>Can customize, add on more accessories like electric motor, fish finder etc
>No effort needed to travel between fishing spots
>can take a beating if you hit a snag whilst trolling
Boat cons:
>Don't have boating license yet (a good friend has one though and I can operate one as long as he is onboard)
>Boat and trailer registration fees and maintenance
>don't have a 4WD, tricky as I mostly fish in places where there are no boat ramps
>sketchy as shit when traveling in inland shallow waters filled with stumps and weeds
>never operated a vehicle with a trailer let alone try to reverse one in a straight line into water
>never operated a boat
Kayak pros:
>No license needed
>Can customize, add on more accessories like electric motor, fish finder etc
>know how to use a kayak/canoe, how to tip back over etc
>have a roof rack ready for it on my ute
>easy to lift off car and launch at pretty much every single waterbank
>easy to launch and paddle across to nearby snag to fish
Kayak cons:
>While opting for a dual kayak, preferably with a peddle propulsion system, theses kayaks get into the same price range as aforementioned punt
>river flows are getting high, trying to paddle upstream is getting harder and harder to do
>no room to move about
>limited storage capacity
What would you pick /out/?
