In this technique, the point gets equal pressure and sharpens with the blade. Often if you use the forward slicing motion with the point last, it does not get equal pressure and eventually thickens to uselessness. Watch the burr. In this system you can actually sharpen to a "foil" edge. Really hard to remove.
Can't hack it? Get some croc sticks. Most angleguide sharpeners change the belly shape of the blade. Puke.
