my mother recently gave me some white orchids because she thought they died, I don't know very much about orchids so I was hoping some one could help with this.
I got an orchid around November last year, and it was just a skinny stalk pinned to a pole with a clip, after watering it once(ish) a week it started blooming from late December to mid January. It only has four flowers, and it looks like one of the stalks (or what I assume is a flower spike? (I really dont know)) was cut. after about a month of it blooming my mother got another plant, this one has dying stalks, and I don't know if I can maybe save it or not. what I do know is that orchids need breathing room in their roots, i.e. Bark chip soil and maybe air holes in a plastic pot, and not as much watering, but enough to cover roots. I was gonna stop by petco to get a slightly bigger plastic pot and some more bark chips, and I was wondering if some one could tell me if I should trim them, buy some more items for the plants, etc.
Top one is the recent one I got, decrepit roots, and barely sits in its pot
bottom is the one I got in November, It has some damage to the leaves
