I'm thinking of getting a Zastava mini mauser in .223 for deer season coming up.
The plan is to have it as an all-purpose rifle that I would taking hiking up in the mountains, and use on mule deer (inside 150m) but also on rabbit. This came to me after reading an article in some magazine at the dentist's office about how the 223 us apparently an acceptable hunting round. The thing weighs only 6lbs, which is a hell of a lot less than the 30-06 I have.
