I am making a no reel fly rod out of bamboo. I'm only making it for presenting dry flies. What kind of lines should I use? I'll have about ten feet of total line coming off of a single eyelet at the end of the rod. I don't think I'll be getting much out of trying to use a few feet of normal fly line and a normal leader. Should I use the tenkara crossbreed line? It should be designed for basically the exact same rod as I'm building. I hear the crossbreed is the only style of line they make that actually floats. Could I impromptu my own fly line with some thick mono and a little leader? I know that it wouldn't be tapered like a fly line, but when casting only 20 feet in front of me would it still have enough whip to get the fly on the water?
This is the most autistic thing posted here today, I know that. But seriously this cane pole fly rod will be a reality, I just don't know what the best way to go about the line is.
