This summer, my wife and I took the kids to Hot Springs NP, an evening on Beale Street in Memphis, Mammoth Cave NP, GSMNP, the Atlantic Ocean in South Carolina, some random agricultural museum in Mississippi, and the place I took this picture on a ten-day car trip with lots of one-night campouts. (It takes as long to drive from the west side of Texas to Arkansas as it does to drive from Texarkana to Mammoth cave. The 2 year old girl and six year old boy didn't have any real problems with the driving, but I attribute that to the onboard DVD player and our singing "The Wheels on the Bus" approximately 40,278 times.) Then I got to take the boy and the neighbor's kid to BBNP. Then we visited family in Austin and camped overnight on the beach on Padre Island.
Life is good, the little off-the-grid place will just be icing on what's already a hell of a cake.
