-Polystyrene/Styrofoam has an R-value of 4.6, per inch. Which is what most cheap cooler companies use.
-Aerogel is around R-9 per inch. It is rare and extraordinary expensive. Like $2k per average sized cooler and you have to know someone who knows someone who can hook you up. Usually only for 1%, military, and science. It is actually better and cheaper to make your own from structural aerogel panels.
Thankfully, aerogel products are finally dropping in price. You can even get aerogel-based clothing (Oros' Solorcore) now.
