I actually have a pretty good technique down for scaring people. I've done this a few times now and it never gets old. Buy one of these paper mache mask molds. then get a flashlight, preferably an Erie color. Now right when he goes to sleep go up to his tent and then push the mask into the fabric. He may or may not realize the face is there at first. but he will when you turn the flashlight on, make sure the flashlight is only illuminating the inside of the Mask. this is honestly the best way to scare somebody and it's worked out every time for me.
