Fixed knife is kind of a meme. Kinda, because it's justified in a longer-term perspective and for heavier tasks.
Folders will do you fine for an on-person knife and for starter kit. Fixed knives are only necessitated when your default plan requires building, carving, or gutting something large.
As you go on, or if you just plain have the money, buy a good all-round shaped fixed blade. Attach it to your pack for emergency. Mora is the meme because they're cheap quality. Get some experience, learn what you like to, need to, and may find yourself doing. Then use this knowledge to choose a blade that fits you and your environment.
My first knife didn't have an obvious make, but looked like this Buck 55. Sturdy, locking, and functional.
