>>2617827Yes, casting rods have a small hook grip for your finger on the back and the eyelets face you. Spinning rods don't and the eyelets face away from you. You can attach a spinning reel to a casting rod but that little hook grip is going to right in the way in the middle of your hand as you cast, making a less successful cast and a very uncomfortable retrieve, especially if you have anything significant on the other end.
