This board has some awesome people to spend time with irl; if you can manage to meet up with somebody, do it. I went hiking with a couple different /out/ists last winter and learned a lot about winter mountaineering from them, had a blast. I try to teach basic backpacking on a budget here, but most of that gets lost in the noise from people who don't get /out/ much.
