Well since the other thread is dead Ill just share my love of the go pro here. Bought a hero 3 black a couple months ago after wanting one furiously since it came out. I have to say I am in love.
Some people complain about the battery life but I for one think its fucking impressive as fuck that you can get roughly 1.5 hours of solid recording time in pretty much any of the modes with a tiny ass 1055mAH battery which takes up more than half the volume of the entire camera which is already minuscule. I am very pleased with the battery life, I think its amazing. As im sure you are all aware you can get a battery back pack for it but also one thing I did to record some multi day long timelapses is make one of these cables: (see below post) Just ran an extension cable and a usb charge adapter out to the camera but you could just as easily power it with any backup usb battery, modifying a ups battery to put out regulated 5v through a usb cable is easy. Lots of things you can do.
