Some women test their control over men via emotional manipulation. It's a habit that can be broken by calling it out or turning it back around on them because it relies on an emotional appeal and is reinforced socially in groups. The rational/belief is that since women can be gate keepers of sexual selection in the modern times they will often test a male in various ways to find out if the are worth the woman's time, the most often act being an emotionally based plea in attempt to change some sort of behavior or habit. Once the behavior is changed the woman is believed no longer interested since the male is weak enough to be changed.
OR some people are spoiled, lack fortitude, and ONLY want it their way. When they don't get it their way they stomp off for a while before coming back and realizing it's not so bad and grow as a human.
