>>15731As far as "dominating it"... A modern stock machine will go just about anywhere you can put it. Plenty of power and track to get you into places you probably shouldn't be.
I've been riding 6 or 7 years now... I'll tell you i'm not the greatest rider, but at the same time I know the guys I ride with are -good- riders. If you see any snowmobile videos or heard the names of sno-x racers or backcountry riders ... yeah, those are the guys I ride with. For the most part I can keep up with them, but there's still a lot of things I'm not good at.
Riding at least every other weekend... the first couple of months are going to be miserable. You'll be stuck just off the trail, fall off a lot... stick with it, find someone who's willing to push you to the next level, and before you know it your confidence will go up and you'll find yourself climbing things you never imagined.
I was pretty comfortable on the sled about 2 months into the following season, wasn't holding the groups I was riding with back.
This guy's got 4 King-of-the-Hills at the Jackson hillclimbs, and he's been to Duluth nationals (snocross) at least twice.
