Okay so today I went by the milsup and picked up an intermediate sleeping bag from a military sleeping system, along with the stuff sack they're supposed to come with, plus two large waterproof bags all for about $89. I didn't want to spend that much but getting a stuff sack was important and so was getting a decent sleeping bag, I'm satisfied.
The picture is my new pack that I got yesterday, on the bottom in the stuff sack is my sleeping bag plus the tent and rain cover, which are both inside their own stuff sack they came with. (it's pretty nice, difficulty in stuffing it back in aside) I'm a bit torn about this setup but I feel it's a decent way to manage both my sleeping bag and my tent. My pack weighs about 20 lbs right now, with a tarp and a few other small things in it.
An ex girlfriend who I'm still good friends with gave me $70 for helping her at an animal shelter for the last few months, she gets paid to help there and I volunteer(mostly to hang with her and play with kittens). She wants to come with me but she's just finishing up college and she's a few years younger, we agree that she's probably not stubborn/determined/crazy enough to do what it takes at this point in her life. We've talked about up and going somewhere together a few times, but with this being such a broadside I'm going to go do it first, alone. I tried to give it back to her but she stuffed it down into my day pack while I was cleaning cages and then told me about it when I got home. I'm still up close to a hundred dollars at the moment.
Skipped the haircut, the tarp is 10ft by 8 ft and very good quality, brand new from a thrift shop for 2 dollars. Still need a good flashlight+headlamp and more socks.
I've been thinking of taking another very small backpack to use as a daypack and as a carryon for the flight so that I can hold on to my important things a little better. Up in the air about my laptop.
>>273085It's quite alright, I'm going to need luck just as much as I need food.
