Apparently the larva can also feed on infected rodents, detach and then when they are nymphs they'll infect you. This is only for RMSF as far as i know cause that's the only thing i care much about since it's pretty bad around here. I got covered in hundreds and hundreds of larva ticks a few weeks back. I also got a bunch of ticks on me a week before that in Tennessee in the great smoky mountains park on the trails there, they were extremely bad there this year. In the past i've only ever had 2 ticks on me in my 30 years of outdoorsing in Kentucky. I blame the out of control deer population. These environmentalists want to save every animal ever and don't care that they don't actually benefit anybody and that our forefathers killed them off and were okay with it for decent reason. Wish i could go back to the 60s when none of this was an issue at all.
