The best bait to use is small maggots, fly larvae and or ready made ground bait. With your catapult target your float and start flinging those jucy maggot directly on top of your float. Careful not to go over the top as we want to entice the fish to hit your hook, not to feed them. Start with quite a lot before your first cast and thereafter with just a few maggots with every cast.
For more in depth analysis on rigs, depth finding and ground baiting just google the freshwater variant as most of it is the same with the size being the biggest difference. Also don't pump that rod like there is no tomorrow as the line diameters and your reel are made for finese and not a caveman. Fight the fish with really loose breaks and tire it.
