It goes into the entire workings of the forest ecosystem down to the sub soil level, and thus is far more than a simple field identification guide. I also use the Peterson guides for medicinal plants, and mushrooms. Overall, I prefer them to the Audubon guides. Anyway, I cannot recommend the Eastern Forests guide strongly enough, to anyone blessed enough to live in them.
