I've used mine to dig a fox hole (for giggles) and had to hack through some thick, like two inch, roots at many times. Dug a few graves. Used it to get under tree stumps for removal. While hacking the stump, hit a drill bit that someone left in there; only made a reasonable dent but didn't shatter the edge.
Here is it freshly painted but otherwise worn a bit underneath
