>>1442217My "this is a knife". Made from an old steel file ground into shape and tempered. I regret adding the spike to the pommel after banging my elbows on it multiple times, but otherwise it's a great knife. It can replace a hatchet for almost everything while being more comfortable to carry and also a suitable weapon if necessary.
I've used this for almost everything for almost ten years now and in that whole time only needed to resharpen it once. admittedly, it's no razor, but it's still sharp enough to carve feathersticks.
>What is your favorite handle materialDepends on what type of knife. For hacking knife like pic related, wood is superior cause it slips a bit and doesn't cause blisters as fast. for finer work, the rubberized Mora handles are the best I've seen.
>styledoesn't matter as long as it's sharp. with cheap knives, scandi grind is the only good option as 420 / 440 needs to be reground often enough that a flat ground blade would get to thin and a concave grind would lose it's shape, but on knifes made from better steel and tempered properly concave grinds or even flat grinds are also possible.
