>>1872198>>1872213The thing is, the world has a lot of really motivated geniuses of all different disciplines, but to get them together and motivated working toward overcoming the challenges of doing something difficult and new is rare. It's what NASA has done since the 60s, some universities around the world, and people like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Ol' Musky. Geniuses are useless without ideas, and money is useless without any purpose, and Musky is one of the people who can actually put all those things together. Lots of really trailblazing tech has been developed by his companies that nobody else is working on. Governments could do it but they have too many conflicts of interest. I mean reusable rockets, the batteries and other tech going into Teslas, etc. They all need an ideas man who actually has the resources to make it happen.
It doesn't matter if he's an idiot or makes dumb mistakes half the time, it's private money and I think these projects are all worthwhile
