>>887130their main concern is ackchully that, with the pipeline permanently under the missurrah river, the chance of it someday contaminating the river isn't a risk they think is acceptible. this is in the context of:
1. the fact that most leaks, spills, or disasters involving pipelines aren't detected until it's too late to prevent contamination
2. the native mearcans have a long history of being screwed, lied-to, or otherwise relegated by the governments around them, which gives them suspicion
3. various public water supplies and communities have been fucked-over by negligent administrations lately (especially in Flint) and since the pipeline is intended to be permanent, again, this means it's a concern that forever nothing can ever go wrong with this thing.
that said, there's no reason for any of this to be as wild as it is really. it's just a simple matter of distrust and NIMBY. like if they want to build a block of cheap low-income apartments at the end of your street with its own bus stop so all the poor city niggers can come live in your neighborhood you'll go and petition the local gov't with every legal avenue you have to put a stop to it. whelp, the indian reservation doesn't have those options available to them. it goes past their property, not over it, and they don't trust it.
