>>1503597I figured out that the fig branches are pretty much the perfect size that I can basically slip a cut azalea branch into the core of the fig branch, and add some tape to hold it there.
So far I've got about 50% of the fig leaves gone and replaced with chunks of azalea branches, thinking I might hold off until the grafted branches take to make sure I don't kill off the fig tree immediately.
Gonna grab a few clothespins to hold the joints a bit more steady though
