>>95966I've been there. Now I use the straw mulch method for my 'taters. It's super simple, just place the seed potatoes on the ground and cover with rotten straw. Keep adding straw as the 'taters grow thru it. You only want 6-8" of vines poking thru (potatoes will set tubers all along the vines that haven't been exposed to the sun). It's super easy to steal early potatoes this way, and when I need to harvest the whole plant I just pull the mulch back. All the taters are sitting on top of the ground, nice and clean. I usually plant 100+ row feet of potatoes. We store much of the harvest for winter, but we eat a lot of potatoes when they are in season too.
