Day 3 of fishing solo
I exclusively used hotdogs on a branch of the Raritan river today.
Was sort of disappointed with them as bait, but for 8 dogs for $1 I shouldn't be.
The major problem is casting and having the dog fall of mid cast. This sucks when I got trees on my sides hanging into the stream.
Lost a few hooks cause of this, about 5 which cost $3 so that's pretty neat.
No fish were caught, sunnies nibbled at my hotdog when I kept it in the water on shore. But there was this one bite.
This fucking fish.
Whatever it was it liked that hotdog.
I remember catching a trout with my dad when I was like 12. But the power on this fish was probably x3 of it and I just got surprised.
I semi panicked and the fish took the whole hook. At least I set the hook. The speed it took off down stream along with the power blew me away.
Im not to sure what lead it to take my hook tho. Used a clinch knot and 10lb mono and my drag was set very low.
I guess it was the knot was bad, gotta learn palamor knot.
Holy shit that fish is gonna give me a nightmare
