I bought a cheap as shit machete for 14$ with tax.
Its original edge couldn't cut diddly squat, and I knew that when I bought it. So I took it to my uncle's garage and use a grind stone to do some edging, then used an arkansas wetstone for some serious sharpening.
Borrowed the small axe from my uncle which is surprisingly good.
My best find however was the 3$ duramax hand saw from Dollorama. It's seriously so fucken amazing, and it even came with a plastic belt holster. Shit's incredible and effective.
With all these items, cutting and maintaining trails in da woods not only gets you fit, but gets you skilled (alternating hands to give old lefty some much needed dexterity).
Also, I think I'm strange about this, but when I'm beginning something, I like to get something shitty to practice on first, then I love the feeling of getting something better for the job and using it.
It's like an RPG moment when you're like, FINALLY, a weapon worthy of my skill!
