So there are public footpaths and trails but you have to stick to them and obviously you can't camp.
Then there is open access land that you can freely walk across, but you're not allowed to camp on it.
Then there are national parks, but for most of them it seems like you need to camp on sites.
So is there anywhere in this annoyingly small country that I can just pitch my tent where I like? Like wild camping? I just don't see any fun in camping if you have to pitch up on a maintained site with loads of other people.
I live in the south west, gloucestershire, just in case someone knows of something near me.
