My multitool collection
<---------
My 'go to' tool if i know i'll need to use it? Sog Powerlock.
My EDC? Leatherman blast(Mostly cause its disposable. I have 2 backups from when i foolishly expected leatherman warranty department to fix my PST2 and other PST, and instead was mailed back 2 brand new blasts)
There are 4 major brands for multitools. Leatherman, Gerber, Victorinox, and SOG. Than there are a few smaller off-shoots like Schrade, Swisstool, CRKT and Buck... Plus the infamous GANZO rebrands(12 oclock in my pic is a Ganzo rebranded as a Sheffield. They all share the same general shape and plier head) They arnt bad, per-se... But you shouldnt ever spend more than $20 on one($30 if they have locking tools) because even though some fancier brands have them(Like H&K) they are all the same tool, so the one sold in the bargain bin at walmart is no different than the $80 one H&K tries to sell you in a pelican case.
If you decide on a SOG, keep in mind that anything with gear covers(black one in my collection) is made in taiwan. The ones witout the covers(like the silver one) are older and made in america *UNLESS* they have pointy pliers.
