Friend was a park ranger up there and he says there's communities of innawoods people up there, runaways, people running from the law, Hippy cults etc he and other rangers would sometimes come across them, often while they were fishing on the beach and they would run away the moment they noticed the rangers approaching them.
There was an interesting story on Reddit a few years ago where someone talked about how on Navy patrol, they spotted what looked like a group of several families of wild people spear fishing on the coast of the Jardine, when they noticed the Navy boat though they all ran back into the jungle.
