What is a good everyday shoe/boot that:
1. Does not have an elevated heel
2. Does not have any medial post or arch "support"
3. Does not have a narrow toe box that smashes your toes together.
4. Is thick enough to provide good cushioning for constant/frequent walking on concrete
From December-August I wore almost exclusively Vibram fivefingers and Lems shoes, during which successfully recovered from a foot-knee injury. I bought into the barefoot movement and just continued wearing them, but then got some kind of overuse injury in my foot bones that felt like it was from walking on concrete all the time in very thin shoes.
I can't seem to find ANY thicker shoes that don't have a ridiculously narrow toe space or an elevated heel, or some "arch support" thing in the middle. Arch support hurts one knee (probably because my plantar fascia on that foot sticks out lower since the injury a year ago), positive heel above 3mm hurts ankles and feet.
Considering this once it comes out for winter, the Sanuk high top. Until then alternating between the low Sanuks, Converse chucks, sandals. I'm in California, so no snow or extreme cold.
